Pol Masip is a young photographer whose main focus is Architecture and normally works under commission. But he decided to undertake a small personal project and took off with his friend Eduard Sedó to spend a couple of days and photograph a worn off highway station designed by the prestigious architect Josep Lluis Sert. Built in 1978, the same year of the much well known Fundació Miró in the city of Barcelona, la Porta Catalana (Catalan Gate) has welcomed travelers from France for almost fifty years and is currently in an evident state of decay.
The pristine photos of a building which has lost its past glory and seems to lay forgotten and ignored are paralleled with the written words of the author in a personal diary style, narrating the details of the visit and the short encounters with the few individuals who still populate the facilities, such as police officers or a weeping cleaning woman, who bring humanity and a deeper emotional insight into the sometimes cold and aseptic job of Architecture photography.
This publication, designed by Sergi Vilà Bori, is a limited double edition of 50 copies in English and 50 copies in Catalan.
