Carles Riart (1944) is one of the most important Catalan designers of the second half of the 20th century.

An atypical creator, Riart has wanted to be a craftsman of design, with unique furniture conceived outside of the market and fashion, which represents a reinterpretation of tradition. Thus, he breaks the austerity of the dominant functionalism at the beginning of his career and recovers the taste for furniture based on sensuality and imagination, capable of arousing emotions. The book includes a meticulous catalog of his work and illustrations of his most representative pieces, some of which have been internationally awarded and turned into design icons. It also reproduces many of his special or author's furniture pieces, as well as a significant part of his secret watercolors. The result is a complete tour of Carles Riart's work, who, in the words of Santiago Roqueta, "has changed our perception of things, our view of ourselves and the supposed novelty of our daily life."
