Dibujos 1968-1973

It was the artist Olivia Albanell who first told us about the very obscure and almost unseen drawings her father had done in his youth. Most of them were trapped inside the covers of numerous notebooks, some others in bigger, loose sheets of paper. They all reflect a time of psychedelic inner exploration, when Josep Maria Albanell was a young artist and designer participating in the underground subculture of Barcelona's music and journalism scenes.

Terranova ended up having the privilege to show Albanell's drawings to the public for the first time ever, with an exhibition held at our bookstore in March 2024.

This newsprint publication, made in the same format as Albanell's work as the art director of legendary Underground paper Disco Expres, was published to accompany the exhibition as a small catalogue.

It includes a leaflet with an exclusive text written by Pepe Ribas, founder and editor of the underground magazine Ajoblanco, who knew Albanell back in the days and recalls it in a first hand emotive memory of the times.
