Isolated Heroes

Isolated Heroes is the iconic collaboration between photographer David Sims and Raf Simons. Taken in the summer of 1999, the project consists of portraits of models cast from the streets of Antwerp by Simons wearing his SS 2000 collection.

Initially conceived as a work in progress, this collaboration became a highly regarded body of work in its own right. These images even transcend more traditional fashion photography, as they reach for a timeless quality, devoid of signs of the times. Isolated Heroes became the manifesto of the designer's new aesthetic.
